Oh What a month......

In all my years of Hiking ( since 1990 ) I have not experienced a winter this bad. It's the first time It's been prudent to cancel a walk due to winter weather.  Previously I've always tried to fine a way to walk but not this year.

proving that you don't always have to travel abroad to take in a stunning winter landscape, the snow in this photo was found on England's humble countryside in the Peak District. - Sky Travel

We've had

  • temperature down as low as - 11°c,
  • 4 -5 inches (yes i still use old money !) that's 100-130mm of the white stuff
  • wind chills down as far as -18°c
  • Roads in passable
  • drifting snow
  • a rapid thaw

We walked on New Years Day well more of that in the report but since then we have had to cancel  the walk on 10th due to to much snow. The walk on the 24th  was postponed on until 31 due to the move of the club office taking longer thanks anticipated.  And the decision on the 31st to cancel the postponed walk was taken due to a predicted wind chill on the tops of -8°c through out the middle part of the day.  Brrrrrrrrh

In February we Start off a little farther from home in Northamptonshire  with a trip to Fotheringhay followed by a trip to Bamford Edge.

Hopefully that's all the bad weather out of the way.

Remember:  if you sign-up for a walk we will use you supplied sign-up details to contact you should there be a change of plan.

Take care and see you all soon
